About Us
The Blue Door is a vintage collective located in Santa Barbara, CA. Founded in 2014, the store is nestled a block from the sea in the city's Funk Zone neighborhood. We feature displays of expertly sourced vintage pieces from 14 private collectors along with an array of locally handmade goods.
Tess and Megan manage day to day operations at the shop, and online. Tess brings years of visual merchandising experience to stage, shoot, and share posts on The Blue Door’s Instagram. Megan assists with supervising the team, as well as managing our plethora of online inventory. She brings passion and years of experience in the antique resale market to help teach the team (and customers!). Together, they lead the rest of the team in offering a holistic shopping experience from the moment you enter the store, to the moment your new favorite piece arrives in your home.
Carolyn Petersen and Brian Garwood found what they were looking for the moment they saw the building that would become The Blue Door. The exposed brick, funky layout and asymmetrical staircase were a perfect match not only for their vision but also their personalities. The expansive, blue door made such an impact it became the emblem for their business. With their powers combined (and largely with their own hands), Brian and Carolyn restored the building to its original character and opened it back up to the public, this time brimming with curated vintage pieces. In collaboration with a thoughtfully chosen group of collectors, they have crafted a welcoming space where you are invited to take your time and be yourself - to meander, touch things, ask questions, take photos and leave with inspiration and arms (or maybe a truck) full of one-of-a-kind pieces for your home.
