The mid-century artist Lean d'Usseau Jr. started his art carrier early in life by the age of 15. He went on to work as a makeup artist for MGM, later transitioning to painting to get away from the profit based art career of Hollywood because he wanted to focus on "nourishing (his) soul" as he put it.
